Taking a Closer Look at Delicious Chicken Wing Recipes

There are many different types of foods that we may enjoy eating but one that seems to be popular across the board is chicken wings. As a matter of fact, you only need to suggest going out for wings with your friends or perhaps tell them that you are making a batch and before you know it, everybody comes running in your direction.

The popularity of chicken wings is not only due to the fact that they are a delicious type of food, they are also a very fun type of food to eat as well. People tend to enjoy them when they are out with company or spending time with their family. They also go well with many different types of drinks, and perhaps are one of the more popular food items to have with a nice, cold beer. That being said, choosing from among the chicken wing recipes can be difficult, especially considering all the different options that are available.

More than likely, you already have your favorite recipe and you might stick with it on a regular basis. Perhaps you are somebody that enjoys hot wings and the spicier they are, the better they seem to taste. Other people may like more of a sweet wing recipe or perhaps they want a copycat recipe from one of the popular wing places in their local area. Let’s take a look at a few of the specific wing recipes and see which one is going to be best for your needs.

Baked, Grilled or Fried Wings?

There are many choices to make when it comes to chicken wings but perhaps the one that is the most heated debate is if you should have baked chicken wings or if they should be fried. Some people also like them grilled, but that is another story. Baked or grilled chicken wings tend to be some of the healthier choices and when they are made properly, they can certainly satisfy the desire for this meal. Fried wings, on the other hand, offer a level of crispiness that certainly is worth the reduced nutritional value that they may contain.

In most cases, you can take any recipe for chicken wings and do it by either frying the wings, baking them or throwing them on the grill. Some people even use a combination, perhaps by frying the wings, tossing them in the sauce and then grilling them to give them the signature marks. This is something you may want to consider as well, because it certainly can be a delicious way to enjoy this meal.

Hot Wings

Although there are many different chicken wing recipes to choose from, hot wings are perhaps one of the most popular choices that are out there. Some people enjoy hot wings, even if they don’t enjoy spicy food in general. There’s just something about sitting down in front of a plate of these delicious items and sweating it out as you try to power your way to the bottom.

Although there are many different hot wing recipes, the following is perhaps one of the most popular. It is for Buffalo wild wings and you can actually spice things up even more by simply adding additional hot sauce. It is relatively simple to make and you can be sitting down to this delicious meal in no time at all.

You start by putting together the primary ingredients. The general recipe calls for 2 pounds of chicken wings, olive oil, salt, garlic powder, black pepper, hot sauce (Texas Petes), butter and honey. Once you gather the ingredients together, you can then begin to prepare the oven for baking.

The oven should be preheated to 400° and a wire rack should be placed over baking sheet to allow the chicken wings to bake from all angles at the same time. You can toss the chicken wings in the seasoning in a large bowl and then move them over to the baking sheet that has been prepared in advance.

After you have the chicken wings in place, simply bake them at 400° for almost 60 minutes. You will want to flip the wings halfway through cooking in order to ensure that they are done completely. When they are ready to remove from the oven, the skin will be crispy and they will be golden brown.

Now that the chicken wings have baked for the appropriate time, mix up the hot sauce, butter and a little bit of oil in a saucepan and then toss the wings in the hot sauce that has already been heated. All that’s left to do at this point is to put them on the table in front of you and watch them disappear.

You can also modify this recipe by frying the wings or throwing them on the grill.

Garlic Parmesan Wings Recipe

This is also a very popular choice and the flavors are absolutely fantastic, if you make it properly. The following recipe is a known winner and when you have them finished, you will be surprised with how many friends you have that are requesting them time and time again.

These wings are also baked according to the recipe and you can either use them with the bone in or preferably, you can make them boneless. As is the case with any recipe, you can modify it to fry them or throw them on the grill.

Get the oven started by preheating it to 425° and throw some parchment paper over a large baking sheet. It is then time for you to establish a dredging station so that you can prepare the chicken wings for baking.

Mix 1 cup flour with two large eggs in a bowl and whisk them carefully. In another bowl, add in some Italian bread crumbs, garlic, melted butter, parsley and Parmesan cheese. If you like them to have a little spice, add some red pepper flakes. Salt and pepper can be added to taste.

Move the chicken wings down through the line until they are fully coated from each bowl. If necessary, you may need to add a little bit of egg to keep the wings wet as they are passing through. Make sure that they are coated with the bread crumbs because that is really going to add a lot of the flavor and crispiness.

It is only going to take about 20 minutes for you to bake these wings until they are crispy and golden. At that point, you can simply toss a little bit of Parmesan and parsley on them and serve them with Caesar dressing. This is certain to be an addictive dish that you will come back to time and time again.

Honey Barbecue Wings Recipe

There are times when you may need to have a very basic way to satisfy even the most sensitive palate. You might be surprised, however, with how much you can really improve on the taste by combining the flavors and making something that is absolutely fantastic. That is what you get when you make these honey barbecue wings and you can either bake them, fry them or grill them.

For this recipe, you will want an oven preheated to 400° and a baking sheet with a wire rack over it. If you want to protect the baking sheet and make cleanup a lot easier, throw some parchment paper over it before putting it in the oven.

Toss 2 pounds of chicken wings a large bowl with some paprika, garlic powder, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and salt and pepper. It really depends upon your particular taste as to how much of these you are going to use but most people tend to use about a tablespoon of each of the spices.

Now that you have the chicken wings coated with this deliciousness, it is just a matter of putting them in the oven and baking them until they come out nice and crispy. Typically, it will take about 60 minutes for this recipe to be completed but that may vary, depending upon your oven.

When you’re getting close to the chicken wings coming out of the oven, mix up 4 tablespoons of butter with 1/4 cup of honey and 1 cup of barbecue sauce in a small saucepan. If you want it a little bit spicier, add in a few dashes of hot sauce.

As soon as the chicken comes out of the oven, toss them in the mixture that has been warming up in the saucepan. It is then time to transfer the chicken wings back into the oven and put them under the broiler on low. Watch them carefully for a few minutes to make sure that they don’t burn and then remove them from the oven so that you can serve them to your waiting guests.

Slow Cooker Chicken Wings, General Tso Style

Although chicken wings come in almost every shape and size, one that seems to be popular with many people is Chinese take-out. If you’re somebody that loves the signature crunch of General Tso chicken and the heat that it provides, you are going to absolutely love this recipe. As a matter of fact, once you learn how to make chicken like this, you may never order Chinese take-out again.

First of all, gather all the ingredients together so that you have everything ready for the entire process. Those ingredients would include 2 pounds of chicken wings, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup soy sauce, three minced garlic cloves, 2 teaspoons of ginger, 1 teaspoon black pepper, salt and some cayenne pepper to taste. Some people also use a little cornstarch to help thicken the sauce.

This is perhaps one of the easier recipes to make, because everything just goes into a slow cooker. In fact, you might be so pleased with how quickly you can make up a batch in the morning and have them ready for lunch or dinner, you might just make them several times per week.

The first step in the process is to put all of the chicken wings into a large slow cooker. At that point, you would mix together all of the ingredients in a large bowl and then stir until it is well mixed. Pour the sauce into the slow cooker and then simply close it, turn it on high and let it do its magic for about three hours.

Once the timer has expired, the chicken wings are going to practically fall off of the bone but it is the crispy texture that really makes this signature dish a favorite. You need to transfer them carefully from the slow cooker to a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper.

Once you have transferred the wings to the parchment paper lined baking sheets, put them under the broiler and allow them to broil until they are crispy. It will probably take about five minutes for this to happen but you want to make sure that you are watching them very carefully so that they don’t burn.

You can eat them straight off of the baking sheet and they are so delicious, it is probably going to be tempting to do so. Try to resist the temptation, however, and pull them off of the baking sheet to put them on a serving plate. Sprinkle with some sesame seeds to add to the authenticity of this delicious dish and serve them to your family.

There are many different ways to make chicken wings and more than likely, you will have some favorites as you look at the different recipes. It is important, however, for you to avoid falling into a rut as far as wings are concerned. There are so many different ways to make them in so many different flavors to enjoy that it would be a pity if you were locked into a single flavor. Continue to experiment and to add different items into the mix and before you know it, you will be a wing expert that is envied by all of your friends because of your awesome skills.

Crispy Chicken Wings - Baked Hot Wings w/ Buffalo Wing Sauce

Make spicy chicken wings at home. You can bake crispy wings for a healthier version of your favorite hot wings recipe, and a Buffalo sauce is super easy to prepare. I usually buy the whole wings and cut them up at home, but you can buy bags of chicken wings already cut up into drumettes and wingettes. I bake spicy wings and toss half of them in a hot Buffalo sauce and leave the other half unsauced for a little variety.

What You Need to Make Crispy Baked Chicken Wings
3 lbs CHICKEN WINGS
2 Tbsp BAKING POWDER
1 tsp SALT
½ tsp ONION POWDER
1 tsp GARLIC POWDER
1 tsp PAPRIKA
¼ tsp BLACK PEPPER
...but really, use whatever spices you like

Ingredients For Buffalo Wing Sauce
¼ cup BUTTER
¼ - ½ cup HOT SAUCE
1 tsp WORCESTERSHIRE
1-3 Tbsp HONEY

How to Make Crispy Chicken Wings In The Oven
I generally remove the skin from chicken, but not when I'm having wings; that crisp cooked skin is what makes wings so tasty. Buy your wings already cut up, or cut the up yourself at home. They're not difficult to process at home, just cut easily between the joints, and be sure and save the wing tips to use for a chicken broth.

1) Pat chicken pieces dry with a paper towel and set aside
2) Combine the baking powder and seasonings in a bowl and mix together well
3) Toss the wingettes and drumettes with the dry coating
4) Arrange the chicken pieces on a wire rack over a baking pan and place in oven preheated to 425 degrees F
5) Cook wings for 50-60 minutes, turning every 20 minutes until crispy and done.

While the wings bake, make the sauce.
A classic Buffalo chicken wing sauce is easy to prepare.

1) In a sauce pot, melt butter
2) Add an equal amount of hot sauce to the pot, or more if you like your wings spicier
3) Throw in a splash of Worcestershire sauce
4) And for sweeter wings, add honey to taste
5) Mix well and heat through

I like my spicy wings right out of the oven, just the wings and crispy skin, but I like them tossed in Buffalo sauce, too, so I usually sauce half and leave half unsauced.
You can follow your own heart.
To sauce the wings, simply combine the wings hot out of the oven and the sauce hot off of the stove into a bowl and toss.
And a creamy blue cheese or ranch dressing makes a nice accompaniment.
